Learning Ladder
This course was designed and developed primarily by NLP's Heather Taylor and has been delivered in partnership with Frances Longman, (Blue Cat). The course was aimed at the homeless and vulnerable and looked at lifelines, confidence building skills, self esteem, teamwork and progression. Skills for Life support is embedded throughout the programme. The learning ladder provides a structured but flexible approach to delivering life skills to chaotic and vulnerable individuals and offers an opportunity to access other training en route (First aid, healthy eating, budgeting etc).
A typical programme will include:
- Who Am I? - personal development
- Where Am I? - barriers to learning, Dare to Dream, signposting
- Where Do I Belong? - Team Building
- How Do I Communicate? - Body language, Gender issues
- How Do I Manage? - nutrition, budgeting skills,
- Where Do I Go From Here? - Action Planning, Crossroads
This programme is an integral part of the Streetlife Soccer programme and HAVES delivery.
This project was piloted with the residents of Bealeah House , many of whom have gone on to other training including - Soapbox, creative writing and photography courses.
