English for Family Life
English for Family Life
A need was identified by the Community Learning Mentor and Health Visitor in the Catton Grove area of Norwich for ESOL support for a group of mothers with young children. Many of these mothers had children attending Catton Grove Primary School. There were eleven spoken languages among the group and all were at entry levels in English. Many of the mothers were isolated in the community and needed support with their English to access services and/or for everyday life with their families. Two 30 hour (15 x 2 hour courses) at the school, were developed in response to that need. These learners were unable to access mainstream courses due to childcare and transport issues. .

Two mothers practise bandaging techniques on the First Aid course which was part of English for Family Life.
