Case Study - Teapot Course
Making time for tea
Women from Russia, Libya, the Congo and Norwich came together at Norwich Castle to improve their communication skills and share their stories.
The women joined a Skills for Life course hosted by Norwich Castle - which is managed by a partnership including Norfolk County Council and Norwich City Council. The course was organised together with the Norfolk Learning Partnership.
Tea was the main topic of conversation as all were familiar with tea drinking and the ceremonies that go with it. They also studied the Castle's impressive teapot collection and used them to inspire their own designs.
Sharon Chitambala, from the Congo, has been in Norwich about two years and her teapot featured a Congolese flower and a handprint from her daughter. The 33-year-old said: "I enjoyed it very much and I made a lot of new friends. Norwich is very different to where I come from, but I like it and my neighbours have been very kind."
For information on the next course, call 01603 251737.
