In 2005, NLP took on the role of championing the Aspirations agenda in Norfolk. It was a recognised issue and had been identified as a cross cutting theme in the county's community regeneration strategy, Norfolk Ambition, but it was not widely understood and activity was not coordinated.
Three years on ...
- Aspiration is recognised as a key issue across Norfolk. It has become a cross cutting theme in a wide range of new strategies and policy documents. It is a standing item on a number of agendas and is widely discussed at all levels
- NLP is recognised as the focus for work on Aspirations
- More than £2 million worth of funding has been raised for NLP and others to ensure that activities to raise aspirations are targeted across the county. This has included:Working with Homeless and Vulnerable through HAVES, Streetlife Soccer, Skills for Life teams
- Development of Role models in schools (pilot running in north and west Norfolk
- Development of new qualifications to support organisations working with vulnerable people
- Range of conferences, workshops and careers opportunity days.
- Support for other organisations developing aspirations in Norfolk
- Aspirations are fully integrated into the Skills for Life agenda for Norfolk and many other key areas.
The NLP attends many stakeholder and strategic meetings ensuring that good practice is shared and that gaps in provision are quickly identified and action taken.
