The ESOL Intervention
The ESOL Intervention began in Great Yarmouth in January 2007. Since then it has developed and delivered innovative courses to address areas of need.
Great Yarmouth has been a destination for migrant workers and others for whom English is not their first language, for only about eight years. Before that, there were few non-English speakers in and around the town so the support infrastructure has been relatively recent. Consequently, there is currently a lack of ESOL provision directly relating to learners' needs.
The programmes are currently being rolled out across the county
