The Role Model project is in its second successful year. The aim of the project is to allow the boys involved access to potential role models from all walks of life, to allow them to see not only the variety of work available to them but also the variety of routes that could lead them there. It is important that the boys involved in this project are able to see that they too can achieve, whether it be a career goal, volunteering or any other life choices. Although the current project has identified eight high schools in the North and West of the County the objective is to identify role models who can contribute something across the county.
Examples of activity include:
A young film maker who made a film with boys interviewing other role models in Norwich City Football club (The branding manager - not players!),
- Graphic design students from Norwich School of Art and Design helping the boys to design an ‘Aspirations' logo which is used across the county to demonstrate commitment to Raising Aspirations.
- A professional sportsman has talked to a small group about the dedication needed to play professional rugby.
- Norman Lamb visited Aylsham High School and addressed a large group of students.
- Lunch clubs where visitors have explained their work and how they got there. These have included a Fireman, Accountant, Marketing Director and many others.
- Workshops for parents to help maintain children's aspirations and commitment to studies.
- The project works alongside Aimhigher and Connexions to integrate existing programmes.

This year the opportunities have been widened to include girls and boys in years 8 and 9 across the eight pilot schools and will explore the possibility of developing Alumni organisations in the pilot schools. Attleborough High School will be joining the project in September 08 and will help to develop materials for a 6 hour unit on Role Models.
In addition links have been forged with a girls aspirations project in the west of the county.

This project was funded by the County Strategic Patnership with Second Homes Funding
