Shaping Norfolk's Future

The Norfolk Learing Partnership is the lead for Strategic Goal Two: to promote learning and skills to raise aspirations to meet the future needs of Norfolk.

ABOUT SHAPING NORFOLK'S FUTURE

Shaping Norfolk's Future is a business-led partnership that works to create wealth and jobs for the people of Norfolk.

Formed in 1997, it brings together the skills, knowledge, talent and flair of county businesses and organisations to help drive Norfolk's economy.

Through creating a shared approach and speaking with one voice on important issues, the partnership  influences the investment of resources and coordinates action to create wealth and jobs for the people of Norfolk.

Our shared vision is for Norfolk to have a successful economy; an economy characterised by innovative, dynamic and sustainable businesses. A county where people are skilled and motivated with the opportunities to maximise their potential in a high quality environment.

The key to successful delivery of this vision is through partnership working. To ensure a focus and an efficient use of partners' resources , three main approaches have been developed: delivery through sectors, themes and local areas.

The Sector Approach targets seven key business sectors as a focus for Norfolk's economic growth.

The Thematic Approach tackles the issues, which cut across all business sectors, and these are reflected in six goals set out in the partnership Strategy. These goals are used to guide activity and identify gaps.

The Local Area Approach addresses needs at a local level as well as tackling county-wide issues.

Seven thematic groups have been formed to support Shaping Norfolk's Future. They address many of the challenges that affect business and the six goals set out in the partners' Strategy.  The NLP leads on learning and skills.

The Business and Industry Group for the Environment (Big E) addresses Strategic Goal Four: to make Norfolk an exemplar of environmentally sustainable prosperity.

The Business Support Alliance addresses Strategic Goal One: to improve business performance and encourage innovation and entrepreneurship.

Employment and Social Cohesion addresses Strategic Goal Three: to reduce deprivation and social exclusion by increasing access to and the quality of employment and training through regeneration.

Norfolk Learning Partnership addresses Strategic Goal Two: to promote learning and skills to raise aspirations to meet the future needs of Norfolk.

The Norfolk Profile and Investment Group addresses Strategic Goal Five: to communicate and maximise the benefits of Norfolk's positive profile locally, regionally, nationally and internationally in order to increase competitiveness, trade and investment.

Transport Group also addresses Strategic Goal Six: to develop an infrastructure that supports sustainable economic growth whilst maintaining the quality of the county's environment and heritage.
