"Norwich Learning City has run its successful "Make it Happen" project for the fourth time this year. A grant of £500 plus some dedicated mentoring support has enabled nearly fifty learning projects to happen over the last few years. The money is targeted at groups wanting to get learning related activities going for themselves, and aimed at community groups. Projects this year have included vulnerably housed men making carnival costumes from recycled materials, people with learning difficulties learning how to manage a budget, young African women exploring growing up in a different culture, and homeless women learning how to cook and eat healthily." "Overall the nine Make it Happen projects this year have engaged over 120 participant learners and all projects have had a degree of mentor support and been linked to new partners and sources of support including new funding opportunities and opportunities for further learning. We hope many, if not all, will carry on and develop further. One of the project mentors commented their project they supported was "clear evidence of how a small Make it Happen grant can make a big difference to a community project".
